Head of the Education Department (International Education) (w/m/d)
The German-American Institute (DAI) in Heidelberg is a renowned nonprofit cultural center dedicated to promoting democracy and providing information on social, political, and cultural events on both sides of the Atlantic. In addition to a comprehensive program—consisting of lectures, event series, seminars, discussions, readings in both German and English, concerts, films, and exhibitions—the DAI offers a wide range of educational opportunities, including a public English-language library and a language school.
To lead our Education Department, we are seeking a dedicated, strategically minded, and highly communicative individual who will further develop our educational offerings with an eye toward the future and lead the department both professionally and organizationally.
Your Responsibilities
- Professional, strategic, and organizational leadership of the Language and Education Department (International Education)
- Leadership, coordination, and further development of the Education Department team
- Strategic planning, design, and continuous development of the educational and course offerings
- Organization, coordination, and quality assurance of the language school programs
- Experience in conducting language courses and other educational programs
- Development of new educational formats and collaborations with national and international partners
- Close collaboration with other DAI departments—the Program Department and the Library—to develop joint projects and events
- Budget planning and resource management within the department
- Maintaining existing partnerships and establishing new networks with schools, universities, institutions, and international partners
- Contributing to the strategic development of the DAI Heidelberg
Your Profile
- A college degree, ideally in the fields of education, linguistics, cultural management, the humanities, or the social sciences, or a comparable qualification
- Several years of professional experience in the field of education, preferably with an international focus
- Experience leading teams and organizing complex workflows
- Experience in designing and implementing educational and language programs
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- An independent, structured, and solution-oriented approach to work
- Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for working in an international environment
- Very good written and spoken German and English
