About the DAI Library
The library of the DAI Heidelberg is the only public English-language library in the entire region and the historical core of the German-American Institute Heidelberg. When it opened in 1946 as the “Amerikahaus”, it was already understood as a place for the exchange of ideas, the transfer of knowledge and enthusiasm for literature.
In addition to an extensive range of literature, consisting of classics, the latest bestsellers and always current children’s, youth and non-fiction literature, national and international newspapers and magazines as well as DVDs and audio books of all genres, the library of the DAI is above all a place of encounter.
As a space for inspiration and intellectual development, it offers an attractive, wide-ranging program of events for children and adults and invites you to linger in the Coffee Corner.
As an official EducationUSA Advising Center, supported by the U.S. State Department, the DAI Library also provides a wide range of information and advice on topics such as internships or studying in the U.S., college applications or visa applications.
The dates of the entire range of events offered by the DAI Library can be found in our calendar of events.
