Roland Pröll was born in Unna in 1949 and was already a young student at the Detmold Academy of Music at the age of eleven. This was followed by studies in Paris with eminent figures such as Olivier Messiaen, Aldo Ciccolini, Pierre Sancan, Vlado Perlemuter, Yvonne Loriod and others.

Pröll has been awarded numerous international prizes and gives concerts all over the world, as a chamber musician and as a solo pianist with orchestras under conductors such as Sergiu Celibidache, Ricardo Muti, Wilhelm Schüchter, Pierre Dervaux, Joseph Keilberth and others.

32 records and CD recordings as well as radio and television recordings in many countries document his artistic standing.

Since 2001 he has held guest professorships at the Tokyo Academy of Music, the Murcia Conservatory of Music and the Jiujang University of Arts, Jianxi. Since 2003 he has been teaching at the Institute of Music at the Osnabrück University of Music.

At the 33rd Heidelberg Piano Week at the DAI Roland Pröll will play Brahms, Chopin, Scriabin and Beethoven.
