Amorbach in the Odenwald, in front of the Hotel zur Post, Theodor W. Adorno’s summer retreat: this is where the novelist Thomas Meinecke and his characters gather for research purposes. The Odenwald does not remain without influence on the characters’ research; it is a fairytale forest, a dark German forest in which not only fairytale characters but also forest farmers wandering around as robbers appear. Some of them were shipped to Texas long before, so the Wild West also provides its motifs.

The writer-actor Meinecke and his characters weave the red threads of their research into a feminist discourse braid: contemporary philosophical speeches are combined with gender-linguistically exciting medieval texts. The return of the body, of the material, is also dealt with – and above all lies the concert music of the 20th century – the novel owes a debt to Adorno.

Thomas Meinecke is a writer, musician, DJ and co-founder of the band F.S.K., in which he still plays today. He has received numerous awards and scholarships, including the Poetics Lectureship at Goethe University Frankfurt in 2012 and was Writer in Residence at Queen Mary University of London in 2014.
