“Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup”—song lyrics or poetry? Both! The songs of the Beatles, one of the most influential bands of all time, tell of love, dreams, loss, and society—lyrical, socially critical, and not just musically masterful, because most of their global hits are actually musical settings of great poetic texts.
Following exciting events on the lyrics of Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, and David Bowie, this evening’s focus is on the four Brits who changed the world with their sound.

Prof. Udo Dahmen, longtime director of the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg, and music journalist and author Maik Brüggemeyerwill discuss the Beatles’ lyrics—naturally, including plenty of musical examples.
