  • Achilles in Taormina
  • A Life in Search of Hemingway's Last Secret

Ernest Hemingway: a daredevil, a charmer, a bon vivant—definitely a legend. And at the same time, a man driven by an inner turmoil who always had to prove himself; who demanded everything from himself and others.
With a clever twist, Michael Kleeberg sets out in his novel *Achilles in Taormina* to trace the footsteps of his larger-than-life colleague—and in doing so, forges his own identity: as a Hemingway scholar with heart and soul. What turns a boy into a man? What turns a man into a writer? And what turns a writer into an icon with worldwide cult status?—These questions haunt the novel’s protagonist as he searches for Hemingway’s “last secret.” An exciting interplay of reality and fiction.

Michael Kleeberg studied political science, history, and visual communication, working as a journalist, nurse, and dockworker during his studies. He lived in Paris for twelve years; as part of the “Westöstlicher Diwan” writers’ exchange program, he made numerous trips to the Middle East. In 2016, he received the Konrad Adenauer Foundation’s Literature Prize for his entire body of work.
