Nicholas Potter

  • The new authoritarian left
  • In dialogue

How did a movement that sees itself as progressive and emancipated become violent and authoritarian? In his new book, Nicholas Potter explains how a new authoritarian left has formed. Radicalized by the Gaza war and inspired by Islamist groups, it spreads propaganda in digital networks and glorifies violence as resistance. Drawing on exclusive research and personal experience, Potter provides insights into the inner workings of this movement. He explores the question of what this new left embodies and whether our democratic society is prepared for it.

Nicholas Potter is a British-German journalist and author. His main topics are right-wing extremism and anti-Semitism. In 2024, he was nominated for the Theodor Wolff Prize.
