Mirjam Zadoff

  • Winterizing
  • How we save the courage to face life through hard times
  • Lecture

War in Europe, a crumbling Western alliance, populist election victories. It seems as if better times are a long way off. But resignation is not an option. Mirjam Zadoff calls on us to find new, creative ways to deal with fear, loss and speechlessness. Especially in moments of crisis, it is important to remain human. In her latest book Wie wir überwintern (2025), Zadoff combines her experiences in the fields of remembrance culture, historical studies and democracy promotion with personal reflections and shows that there are ways to be awake and resistant – and still live well.

Prof. Dr. Mirjam Zadoff studied history and Jewish studies. From 2014 to 2019, she was Professor of Jewish Studies and History at Indiana University Bloomington, and since 2018 she has headed the NS Documentation Center in Munich. In 2024, she was awarded the Thomas Dehler Prize.
