Ece Temelkuran
- Nation of Strangers
- We are our home
- In dialogue
“Ece Temelkuran’s letters to us all have tremendous power; I know of no one who fuses politics and poetry, human love and reason so convincingly.”
(Eva Menasse)
“I’m not coming home again.” Ece Temelkuran’s involuntary exile begins with this sentence. After the attempted coup in 2016, she left Turkey to escape repression – and became part of a “nation of strangers”. In Nation of Strangers, she writes personally and politically about exile, uprooting and the feeling of no longer having a place in a monstrous world. However, the book is not a swan song, but a search for connection and a new home – in dialog, in resistance, in ourselves. An invitation to all those who feel alienated to rediscover solidarity.
Ece Temelkuran is a lawyer and journalist born in Izmir, Turkey. After criticizing the Erdoğan regime, she had to leave Turkey and now lives in Berlin.
