Rock Poetry – The Beatles
- Udo Dahmen & Maik Brüggemeyer
- In dialogue
“Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup” – lyrics or poetry? Both! The songs of the Beatles, one of the most influential bands of all time, tell of love, dreams, loss and society – lyrically, socially critical and not just musically masterful, because most of their worldwide hits are actually settings of great poetic texts.
After exciting events on the lyrics of Bob Dylan, Tom Waits and David Bowie, this evening’s focus is on the four Brits who changed the world with their sound.
Prof. Udo Dahmen, long-time director of the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg, and music journalist and author Maik Brüggemeyer will talk about the Beatles’ lyrics – including many musical examples, of course.
