Bridging Centuries: A Historical Journey from Heidelberg to the U.S.
Step into the past and uncover the hidden threads that connect the cobblestone streets of Heidelberg’s Altstadt to the far-reaching stories of American history. Led by Mr. Scott Davis, this engaging discussion group invites curious minds to explore the fascinating, and often surprising, intersections between European and American history.
From medieval castles and philosophical revolutions in Heidelberg to the formation of a new world across the Atlantic, each session will dive deep into little-known facts, overlooked figures, and pivotal moments that shaped both continents. We’ll trace the influence of German thinkers on American ideals, investigate transatlantic migrations, and examine how local legends echo across global narratives.
Whether you’re a seasoned history buff or just starting your journey through time, join us in connecting the local with the global, the old world with the new.
No textbooks, no lectures—just great stories and meaningful discussion.

About the Course Leader – Scott Davis
Scott Davis is an experienced educator with a passion for history, language, and helping people grow beyond their comfort zones. With degrees in History, Interdisciplinary Studies, and a Master’s in Educational Technology, Scott brings both depth and creativity to his teaching.
A proud member of the DAI Sprachschule team, Scott has a special connection to Heidelberg: his grandmother grew up on Plöck Street, where she met and fell in love with an American soldier — Scott’s grandfather. This family story sparked his lifelong interest in how language and culture shape our lives and bring people together.
Scott is a strong advocate for performance-based and interactive learning. He enjoys making history come alive in discussion, encouraging participants to think critically, communicate confidently in English, and engage with the past in a meaningful way.
When he’s not teaching, you’ll find him exploring nature, nerding out over historical documentaries, or finding new ways to combine technology and storytelling in the classroom.
