Rotraut Susanne Berner

The rabbit boy Karlchen, the main character of a series that now comprises more than ten books, is constantly experiencing new adventures with his friends. After the books enjoyed ever greater popularity, a Karlchen cinema film has now also been made. At this reading and brunch, the renowned children’s book illustrator invites not only children but also adults to dive into Karlchen’s world with her.

Rotraut Susanne Berner was born in Stuttgart in 1948 and studied graphic design in Munich. She mainly designed book illustrations and covers, and since 1994 has also increasingly published books with her own texts and stories. She has been awarded numerous prizes, including the German Youth Literature Prize for her complete works. Since 2003 she lives as a freelance artist in Munich.
