What are the sources of the human spirit we see growing in our children’s brains? Apparently there are only two approaches: genetic programming and practical experience with the environment.
But both are far too limited to explain the origin of the enormous complexity in the human brain. The lion’s share of this gigantic wealth is fed by another source, which, however, is ignored by current research on artificial intelligence.
Prof. Christoph von der Malsburg is a physicist and neurobiologist. He is a Fellow of the International Neuronal Network Society, involved in the scientific oversight of the Human Brain Project, and serves as a Senior Fellow at the Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies (FIAS).
As part of the International Science Festival – Geist Heidelberg.
