Food Biographies

  • Jan Bredack & Jérôme Eckmeier

What do a car mechanic, a manager at Daimler and the owner of a vegan supermarket chain have in common? What is it that makes an East Frisian head for the best restaurants in Europe? How is it that he finds himself seated at the same tables as Prince Charles and Helmut Kohl before ending up stood at his kitchen stove? Given that it has such a great influence on our personalities and lives, it seems fair to say that food has a sort of biographical power. Food Biographies concerns food, that which affects our identities, even though it isn’t included in our passports.

Jan Bredack was a car mechanic and a manager at Daimler before establishing the first ever vegan supermarket chain in 2008. The trained chef Jerôme Eckmeier swears by the advantages of a vegan lifestyle. In his professional life he combines social work, food technology and his passion for cooking.
