Zen and Yoga

  • Josh Gale
  • A half-day workshop exploring mindfulness through yoga practice
  • Social Activity, Workshop, Yoga

“In Zen, there is no next”, an old Zen proverb goes. Which is to say there is only this moment now. A nice idea, yet, if we live in our heads, addicted to thinking, it’s hard to truly be in the present moment. This is where the practice of yoga can complement meditation – by quieting the mind. Indeed, the Yoga Sutras say yoga is the cessation of mental fluctuations. During this half-day workshop we will explore how sitting meditation and yoga can complement one another. There will be two meditations, walking meditation practice, mindful tea drinking and invigorating postural yoga practice.
