Sabine Baier

  • "For nothing can come of perfect!" A walk through the alchemical rose garden

More than ever before, we are striving for the new – which is supposed to bring wealth, power and a long, healthy life. But what exactly is this new thing and what is its feasibility?

The philosopher, psychologist and computer scientist Sabine Baier is convinced that we must not hastily reduce the new to “technological progress”. From the fire philosophy of the alchemists to the Paracelsus studies of Alexandre Koyré to the thoughts of Carl Gustav Jung, she points out diverse historical ideas and the possible correctives they contain and gets to the bottom of the essence of the new with us.

Dr. Sabine Baier studied philosophy, psychology and computer science at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, where she also worked on the topic of “networked ethics”. She is an associate member at the Center for the History of Knowledge in Zurich and a freelance philosopher.

The event will take place at the DAI Heidelberg and in parallel on the dai HOME Livestream.
