  • Two from each
  • International Children's Book Festival

Eli and Luli are nine years old and inseparable. But one day Luli has to follow her father to America and Eli stays behind in Transylvania. He grows up and celebrates his bar mitzvah. But when World War II breaks out and all Jews have to wear a star, he is deported to Auschwitz. He survives and returns to Sweden after the war, where a long-awaited letter from New York reaches him.

Rose Lagercrantz, the grande dame of Swedish children’s literature, was born in Stockholm in 1947. She worked for radio and television before she began writing children’s books. She has won numerous awards.
Two of Each (2021) is deeply rooted in Rose Lagercrantz’s family history. The illustrations are by Rose’s daughter, Rebecka Lagercrantz.
