As “the world’s most original genetic researcher,” George Church’s reputation for uniqueness precedes him – bold, ingenious, perhaps also unscrupulous. His work, his laboratory, the selection of his collaborators and his unconventional approaches to the study of DNA will be the subject of a special conversation between the reality of research in Heidelberg and the everyday life of George Church. Church ignores boundaries of disciplines and is firmly convinced that the hereditary substance DNA provides everything needed to control, shape and direct life. Prof. Dr. George Church is a molecular biologist at Harvard University. He made a major contribution to genome research with the Personal Genome Project, which was launched in 2006.
Prof. Dr. Joachim Wittbrodt conducts research in the field of developmental biology and physiology and has been working at the Centre for Organismal Studies (COS) at Heidelberg University since 2012.
Prof. Dr. Thorsten Moos is professor of systematic theology at the University of Heidelberg.
