  • Lecture

Conspiracy theories are regaining their visibility and influence. While there are still maneuvers that even the AfD, the far right political party in Germany, shies away from using too aggressively, it seems certain strategies have long reached the White House.

Donald Trump has been using populism and conspiracy since the beginning of his election campaign. The lecture will show that he is very strategic in employing these methods and isn’t just impulsive, as often assumed.

Michael Butter is a professor for American Literature and Cultural History at the University Tübingen and coordinates a research network for comparative analysis of conspiracy theories (COST).

This lecture is part of a lecture series titled Enemy Mine – Anti-Semitism, Conspiracy, Extremes.
