We are frequently approached by authors from Heidelberg who are looking to take the leap into the public sphere, and publish their first literary texts. We’re now providing them with their own event, Local Monday.

We want to open this new forum with a story which is not only relevant for our time, but which reflects the experience of those who are currently overcoming considerable obstacles to reach our country.

This is the story of Mehdy Naficy, who with his wife and new born child, escaped Iran and travelled a dangerous path across the snowy mountains between Iran and Turkey.  Helped by various strangers, the family managed to cross the border region.
An untold story, the likes of which many people today might be able to tell: Mehdy Naficy tells of the fate of a family, which having left Iran 30 years ago, is now living and integrated in Heidelberg.

Dr. Mehdy Naficy is an Ethnologist. He managed the DAI Library until 2012.
