Geertje Potash-Suhr

Geertje Potash-Suhr, poet and novelist, is known for her deep feeling for poetry and just as much for her humorous commentaries, which also include subtle self-irony. On this evening, she will read from her poems and prose – playfully under the motto “Pain also rhymes with… joke” and with cheerful to biting comments in the margins.

Geertje Potash-Suhr studied German, Romance languages and literature and psychology, among other subjects, and wrote her doctoral thesis on the image of women in Heinrich Heine’s poetry. She recently published the novels Von einer, die auszogog, das Lieben zu lernen (2011) and Baby im Dritten Reich – Dichtung, Lügen und Wahrheit (2016) as well as the poetry collection Immer rein ins Herz mit der Feder in 2018. The poet received the Else Lasker-Schüler Poetry Prize in 2020.
