Lisa Federle

  • The happiness of listening
  • How good relationships make us strong
  • Geist Heidelberg, Lecture

Lisa Federle is a doctor who looks, asks questions and has been accompanying her patients, their fates and their dreams for many years. In her work, she is confronted with many problems every day: Loneliness, depression and the psychosomatic consequences of personal crises. Those affected are particularly ashamed to talk about their personal fates. But listening properly can combat physical symptoms and reduce the risk of new psychosomatic complaints. Drawing on her own turbulent professional and personal life, Federle shows what a considerate way of working together could look like and makes an emotional plea for more compassion.

Dr. Elisabeth “Lisa” Federle has worked as an emergency physician since 2001 and as a senior emergency physician in Tübingen since 2004. In 2015, she developed a “mobile medical practice” to provide medical care to refugees and homeless people, which became a mobile testing station during the coronavirus pandemic and made a significant contribution to the success of the Tübingen model. Lisa Federle received the Federal Cross of Merit in 2020. Her first book Auf krummen Wegen geradeaus: Was mich bewegt und antreibt (2022) became a bestseller.
