The 18-member formation – since January 2016 under the direction of Olaf Weithäuser – inspires with its fat Big Band sound, the hard, precise kicks of the wind instruments and the perfect saxophone sets; it also demonstrates all its skills in ballads and solo performances. It is therefore no wonder that the Galapagos Big Band repeatedly brings the stars of the national and international jazz scene to Heidelberg.
On this evening, she will perform together with trumpeter and flugelhorn player Ingolf Burckhardt, who is a permanent member of the NDR Big Band and known for his formations Jazul and Jazul Duo.
