An encounter with a mysterious woman in 1407 changed the life of Oswald von Wolkenstein, who had previously been rather unlucky and unsuccessful. Now thirty, he devotes himself to music alongside his secular career. He enters the service of the Roman-German King Siegmund and becomes his confidant. He experiences imperial banishment, imprisonment and torture, but also the highest honors. His eventful life as a knight, politician and diplomat inspires Oswald to write poems and songs full of power, longing and eroticism.
Friedhelm Schneidewind lives as an author, musician and lecturer in Mannheim. Schneidewind sings and plays Oswald songs in the medieval troupe Conventus Tandaradey, which he co-founded, and as Oswald at Heidelberg Castle.
