Discussion Group – US People, Politics, and the Presidency

  • Social Activity

The latest on what’s affecting people in the U.S. Growing divisions in society, heated debates on race and inequality, discussions about the electoral system, and concerns about climate change—with more intense wildfires and hurricanes—all taking place in a highly charged political atmosphere. The group addresses these issues and others selected by the participants, discussing them with the help of newspaper articles, TV interviews, and other media. Occasionally, experts from the US participate online.

Discussions are led by Alyssa Niccolini. She holds a Ph.D. in English Education from Columbia University, has taught English at the high school and university levels, and is an active member of academic organizations focused on the humanities, gender, and education.
