Claus Koch & Sabine Andresen

  • Bonding as a protective factor
  • How secure relationships make children strong and open-minded
  • In dialogue

Why is emotional attachment so important for children’s mental development – and what does it have to do with open-mindedness and empathy? Psychologist Claus Koch shows how early bonding experiences lay the foundations for self-confidence and the ability to appreciate others and build resistance to xenophobia and conspiracy theories. In the interview, Koch and Andresen shed light on the importance of early childhood bonding experiences and provide ideas on how parents and caregivers can strengthen children’s emotional security.

Dr. Claus Koch is a qualified psychologist, author and publicist and co-founder of the Pädagogisches Institut Berlin. His focus is on research into attachment.

Prof. Dr. Sabine Andresen is an educationalist specializing in childhood and youth research and teaches at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main. She is President of the German Child Protection Association.
