BÄR’s Songwriter Showcase
- Feat. Marcus Eaton
- Concert
A musical form that was popularized primarily by Bob Dylan: The singer/songwriter tradition is an important part of US cultural history, in which lyrics, literature and poetry take center stage alongside the music.
The event will be hosted by Heidelberg pop artist BÄRthe founder of the “Songwriting Circle” in Heidelberg, an open international group of local songwriters that anyone who makes music can join.
On April 30, DAI and local pop artist BÄR are pleased to welcome acclaimed songwriting legend MARCUS EATON (USA) to the DAI Library. It will be a memorable evening – Marcus will perform his original songs and we will get unique insights into his creative process in a behind-the-scenes conversation with BÄR.
Described by David Crosby, twice inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, as “one of the best young singer-songwriters in America, maybe even the world”, Marcus Eaton has an extensive touring history, and after the success of his own band, “The Marcus Eaton Trio”, he now performs mainly solo. Marcus has opened for artists such as Bob Dylan and Dave Matthews, Nils Lofgren, Dr. John and Rodrigo Y Gabriela. In recent years Marcus has been very busy, including performances in L.A. with Seal and Flea, solo tours of Europe and scoring the soundtrack to the acclaimed David Crosby documentary “Remember My Name”. Marcus, who is internationally recognized as an innovative and highly imaginative guitarist, was recently given the unique honour of having a guitar named after him by guitar maker Roy McAlister.
