End of the world

  • How we succeed in creating a constructive world view

And the end of the world greets us daily – on radio, TV or digital media. Panic mongering, black-and-white painting, negativity and corresponding reporting leave their traces in our perception as well as in our cognitive processing.

Is only bad news good news? Maren Urner pleads for constructive journalism that demands our critical attention but does not overtax it. A better media world, without whitewashing, seems possible when findings from brain research and the strengths of good journalism come together.

Prof. Maren Urner, journalist and neuroscientist, teaches media psychology at the University for Media, Communication and Economy (HMKW) in Cologne and is founder of the online magazine Perspective Daily.
