Panic-mongering, black-and-white painting, negativity and corresponding reporting leave their traces in our perception as well as in cognitive processing. Is bad news the only good news? Maren Urner pleads for a constructive journalism that demands our critical attention, but does not overtax it. A better media world, without embellishment, seems possible if findings from brain research and the strengths of good journalism come together.
