In the near future: Sascha sits alone in a boutique. His friends have locked him in there because they believe he has committed a crime for which they demand accountability. Shortly before, there had been a new addition to their circle of friends: the android Charly, whom everyone liked. Only Sascha didn’t trust Charly—because Charly exposed social chasms that existed within the circle of friends and further deepened them. But what actually happened? How did things escalate?
Literature and emails are Sascha’s way of talking about the confusion of different influences. The text thus also becomes a reflection on the conditions of writing in the digital age.
Sebastian Schmidt grew up in and around Heidelberg; he writes prose, poetry, and essays. As a member of the network other writers need to concentrate, he deals with the topic of care work and writing. His debut novel was published by the Heidelberg-based publishing house Das Wunderhorn.
