  • The measurement of life
  • How systems biology helps us stay healthy
  • Geist Heidelberg, Lecture

As a new science, systems biology is pointing medicine toward a holistic understanding of the body. From the smallest cell to the entire organism, from the psyche to environmental influences, everything plays a role.
Using modern technology and new algorithms, systems biologists are decoding the inconceivable number of metabolic processes and behavioral patterns that make up our existence.

Peter Spork wants to know what opportunities this forward-looking science holds for each of us: Will we soon be able to control our own health and fitness, fight chronic diseases and age more slowly?

Dr. Peter Sp ork, who holds a PhD in neurobiology and biocybernetics, is the editor of the newsletter Epigenetics and the online magazine Erbe & Umwelt, and the author of numerous books, including Gesundheit ist kein Zufall (2017) and Die Vermessung des Lebens (2021).

As part of the International Science Festival – Geist Heidelberg.
