Constanze Stelzenmüller

  • Foreign and security policy ahead of the US elections
  • Lecture

A new president will be elected in the USA on November 5. What is certain is that the political landscape has changed significantly in recent years, particularly on the Republican side. Constanze Stelzenmüller believes that Republican blockade politics – such as recently with the planned aid package for Ukraine – make it clear that the Republican Party is firmly in the grip of the ultra-right and Donald Trump. In light of these developments, she calls for Europeans to take a more decisive stance.

Dr. Constanze Stelzenmüller, born in Bonn in 1962, is Director of the Center on the United States and Europe and the first holder of the Fritz Stern Chair at the Brookings Institution. She is primarily concerned with foreign and security policy in Germany and Europe and transatlantic relations.
