After more than ten years of producing new poetry, drawing on passages from the first, “aesthetic Bible” from the seventeenth century, Raoul Schrott now looks back, into the phishes of labourers and professionals, from bus drivers to judges. These individuals ask themselves a huge range of questions about life. Yet, they also tell of that which unites them: the struggle of each moment on earth.
Raoul Schrott, born in 1964, is an author and translator. He has received numerous prizes, including the Peter-Huchel Prize. His theses, based on his own translations of the, “Epic of Gilgamesh” and, “The Iliad” have been the object of intense debate in expert circles.
Schrott is one of the “interns” of the project, “Research as Religion?” as part of which ten international authors are currently completing an, “internship” at academic institutes in Heidelberg. The project is funded by Kulturstiftung des Bundes.
