T.C.Boyle is a cult figure. Son of an Irish immigrant; father a bus-driver; mother a secretary, both parents alcoholics. After years of bumming around, he just about managed to finish high school. But then his love of writing was born. He moved to Iowa where he did a doctorate in Literature. John Irving was one of his mentors. After his first anthology, there was no looking back – writing is my life, Boyle says. For his book ‘World’s End’, a journey through the history of America, he received the PEN/Faulkner Award.

The Terranauts’ takes the socio-ecological project Biosphere 2 as its background and depicts the daring attempt to create a completely new world. Four men and four women spend two years together in a giant glassed-in biodome in Arizona. One of the women falls pregnant. And then?
