Michael Wolffsohn

  • Never again? Again!
  • Old and new anti-Semitism
  • Lecture

“There is no place for anti-Semitism in Germany!” is what we hear time and again from politicians. But what we are experiencing is something else. Instead of “Never again!”, it’s “Again!”, and increasingly, anti-Semitism is not only right-wing extremist, but, according to Wolffsohn, has “siblings” among left-wing extremists, their left-liberal supporters and Muslim anti-Semites. Wolffsohn has dealt with the reactions to Hamas’ murderous orgy on October 7, 2023, which represented a real break, in very personal texts. His latest book (2024) is a sharp reckoning and a passionate call to dispense with short-lived indignation and instead draw political and social consequences from the old and new anti-Semitism.

Prof. Dr. Michael Wolffsohn, born in 1947, is a historian and journalist. He teaches modern history at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich and has received numerous prizes and awards, including the Franz Werfel Human Rights Prize from the Foundation Center against Expulsions in 2018.
