Luciana Castellina and Beate Weber-Schuerholz

  • Peace: Europe
  • In dialogue

Luciana Castellina and Beate Weber-Schuerholz are committed Europeans. They enjoy new opportunities to deepen knowledge and to strengthen emotional connections in order to build a mutual future for all Europeans.

What holds us together is the experience of common achievements. What divides us is the path leading us back to nationalism. The European Parliament has long worked on achieving freedom, equality and solidarity in Europe. How have these ideals become endangered in the current political climate? How can Europe be thought differently today?

Luciana Castellina was born in 1929 and was a member of the European Parliament from 1979 till 1999. Beate Weber-Schuerholz was a member of the European Parliament from 1979 till 1990 and subsequently became the mayor of her hometown Heidelberg until 2006.
