Fredrik Vahle

  • Weird songs, beautiful sounds - Fredrik Vahle tells, reads and makes music
  • Literature

Generations have grown up with Fredrik Vahle’s heroines Anne Coffee Pot and Cowboy Jim from Texas. But looking at the musician’s life is a journey in itself. Influenced by the spirit of optimism of the 1960s, he not only wanted to entertain, but also always had a message: his songs are about togetherness, about caring, about the courage to be free, about listening and silence.

In many “trips down memory lane” Vahle looks back on his life: the result is the book of a man with the joy of experimentation of a child.

Fredrik Vahle was born in Stendal in 1942, and his family moved from the former GDR to the Federal Republic in 1956. He studied German and politics, earned a doctorate in sociolinguistics, and completed his habilitation on children’s language and songs. He increasingly devoted himself to children’s song and published many children’s song CDs and books. He also works as a lecturer at the University of Giessen.
