Nora Bossong takes a close look at her peers – those who influence politics, business and culture in our country during a pronounced time of crisis. And she discusses ideas for a democratic future in which as many as possible are inspired by the ideal of collective action. This is what matters – more than ever. Without accusing, she describes a “process of decay of democratic principles and certainties” (FR).

How are today’s 40-somethings coping with these unexpectedly massive challenges? Can they live up to their responsibility? Or are they only capable of damage limitation, so that we must rather hope for the following generations?

Nora Bossong, born in 1982, publishes novels, essays and poems and regularly speaks out on current socio-political issues. In 2018/19, she worked as a lecturer in poetics at the RheinMain University of Applied Sciences in Wiesbaden. She has received numerous awards, most recently the Thomas Mann Prize and the Joseph Breitbach Prize (both 2020).
