Catherine Eagle
- Iglhaut
- Literature
She has a penchant for whiskey cocktails and old social democrats, has bad molars, money problems, and a talent for working with wood: Iglhaut, who maintains her workshop in the backyard of a Munich apartment building and, through no fault of her own and against her will, becomes the center of neighborly togetherness. Iglhaut is a deeply human novel that celebrates life: unadorned, with all its adversities.
Katharina Adler was born in Munich in 1980, where she now lives again after stints in Leipzig and Berlin. She studied American literary history and was a Suhrkamp and ZEIT fellow. In 2018, her acclaimed debut Ida (2018) about her great-grandmother was published. In 2019 she was awarded the Bayerischer Kunstförderpreis, and in 2020 the Premio Letterario Adei-Wizo.
