What is going on in world politics? – Ask philosopher Vittorio Hösle
On Wednesday, 29 January, 8 pm at the DAI
Right-wing populists undermine the separation of powers, separatists endanger the EU, Donald Trump splits the USA and distances himself from Europe, migration movements seem inevitable. A cry for help from the people for security in uncertain times?
Vittorio Hösle, at the University of Notre Dame (Indiana/USA) since 1999, explains which changes favoured the rise of right-wing populists, which undesirable developments are disintegrating liberalism, and how the self-destruction of the West within a geopolitical environment is having an effect. In doing so, he links Hegel’s historical philosophy of progress with Spengler’s theory of decline.
Come and join the discussion on Wednesday, January 29, 8 pm!
