  • The life and philosophy of Nahum Goldmann (1895 - 1982)

As the founder and President of the World Jewish Congress (WJC), Nahum Goldmann was one of the leading Zionists of his time.

Despite the tremendously signifcant role he played in the establishment and consolidation of the Israeli State and in Germany’s payment of reparations to Israel and to Jewish organisations, he is today a somewhat forgotten figure. Dieter Borchmeyer sheds light on the life and influence of Goldmann, who studied under Karls Jaspers in Heidelberg.

Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Dieter Borchmeyer is President of the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts (Bayerischer Akademie der Schönen Künste) and emeritus Professor for Modern German Literature at Heidelberg University.
