“60 Years of the Élysée Treaty: The Sleepwalkers,” was the title of the FAZ on January 20, 2023. Does Franco-German relations need a shake-up? To explore this question, we would like to discuss various aspects of this special neighborhood at a panel discussion on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Franco-German friendship treaty. The focus will be on the relationship between the two states as well as the leadership role of Germany and France in Europe and the struggle for common foreign policy positions, for example in Russia’s war against Ukraine.

With:
Gaël de Maisonneuve, French Consul General in Stuttgart
Vera Rudolph, reporter and foreign correspondent with SWR and ARD
Jacob Ross, Research Fellow at the Alfred von Oppenheim Center for European Future Studies of the DGAP

Moderation:
Henrik Wagner, Member of the Young DGAP Baden-Württemberg

In cooperation with the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP), Young DGAP, Regional Forum Baden-Württemberg

Following the debate, all are cordially invited to exchange further views at a champagne reception.
