Anne Weber

Anne Weber unfolds over four generations in her autobiographical novel Ahnen. Ein Zeitreisetagebuch (2015) unfolds the story of her family. Starting with her great-grandfather, Weber reflects on identity, German guilt, and coming to terms with the National Socialist past.

The reading will be followed by a discussion with doctoral students from Heidelberg University about the literary examination of the Nazi past. The event takes place within the framework of the Heidelberg Poetry Lectureship and the workshop “Allied Denazification and Reeducation Practices.”

Anne Weber has lived in Paris as a freelance writer and translator since 1983. She has translated both from German into French and vice versa, and writes her own books in German and French. She was awarded the 2020 German Book Prize for Annette, an epic heroine, and received the 2022 Leipzig Book Fair Translator’s Prize.
