Fairies, vampires and the creature under the bed: fantasy and horror as radio play

  • Radio plays with Jens Roth
  • Literature, Program for children, Workshop

Making up spooky stories? Great! Producing a radio play with them? Even better!

In two workshops, students in grades 7 and 8 first get an introduction to creative writing, learning how to create a story freely and associatively. With this basic knowledge, they write fantastic, spooky or scary short stories based on their own ideas and then develop them into a radio play script – with all the possibilities that radio plays offer. In addition, the participants learn speech techniques that are indispensable for recording a radio play. In the last hour, they independently produce a recording of selected scenes.

Jens Roth is a freelance author and founder and director of the Heidelberg live radio play ensemble “die artverwandten“. Its production “An Evening with Ray Bradbury” premiered at the Heidelberg Literature Days 2019. He gives seminars on creative writing, among others at the PH Heidelberg.
