Massive advances in artificial intelligence, the digitalization of the living world, and the reduction of the mind to neural processes makes humans appear more and more as a product of data and algorithms.
Has society already reached the point where it is losing its humanistic view of the world? Do humans first have to become active in order to fight against their ever-increasing self-objectification?

The philosopher Thomas Fuchs opposes this movement with a defense on the level of embodiment: Corporeality, aliveness and embodied freedom are the basis of a free, self-determined existence. He pleads for the return of man to his autonomy and freedom.

Thomas Fuchs has been Karl Jaspers Professor of Philosophical Foundations of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the University of Heidelberg since 2010, as well as coordinator of the Marsilius Project “Embodiment as a Paradigm of an Evolutionary Cultural Anthropology.”

The event will take place at the DAI Heidelberg and in parallel as an online event via livestream.
