Januar 2020 0 Kommentare Zurück zur Übersicht The DAI strives to be an inclusive and multilingual learning experience for people of all ages; that is why we offer programs for little people too. Our children’s programs are designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. Whether this may be with our science club, writing labs, art workshops, or storytimes, we want to help little people become curious, creative, and critical big people! Therefore, to help find the right program for your favorite little person or persons. We’ve compiled a list in chronological order of age to make it easier for you. Important, if your child does not know English, please do not shy away from immersing your child into the English language, this is the best way for them to learn English. Toddler Time Ages 1 to 3 Saturdays, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Toddler Time provides a space for English-speaking and multilingual families who have toddlers to come read, play, chat and enjoy the library together. We have a large selection of age-appropriate books, crayons and paper for drawing as well as some toys. We also offer coffee and tea. Language: English The program is free of charge; registration is not necessary. Story Time for Kids Ages 3 to 5 Wednesdays at 4:00 pm. Story Time is for children ages 3 to 5 who are familiar with English or have a bilingual background. Come, hear stories, sing songs, and have fun with crafts! Please register your child ahead of time. If you would like to participate regularly, please also become a member of the DAI Circle of Friends. The program is led by native English speakers. The program is free of charge, but donations to cover the cost of craft supplies are appreciated. Every Wednesday at 4:00 – 5:30 pm. February 2020, 2:00 pm These workshops introduce children to basic art skills and allow them to grow as young artists. Guided by Terri-Lynn, a Canadian artist and art teacher, the children can explore their creativity in their own rhythm and enjoy the sensory process. Topics will include painting in several mediums, sculpture using traditional and recycled materials and traditional and contemporary printmaking methods. Children should bring a snack. The workshops are designed for children ages 6 to 10 who are familiar with English or have a bilingual background. Please register your child ahead of time. Kids & Art is a course for children ages 6 to 9 who understand some English. They can learn about art styles and have fun trying out different materials and techniques. Each session starts with a short introduction into art at the DAI Library, then the group moves into our Makerspace to paint. Mister Mark is a teacher in our English-language kindergarten. The program is designed for children ages 6 to 9 who are familiar with English or have a bilingual background. Please register your child ahead of time. Time: 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. Contact: kids@dai-heidelberg.de, 06221.6073-15 Language: English/German Course fee: 60 € / 50 € for DAI Circle of Friends‘ members, materials included Little Poets‘ Club Ages 8 to 12 The course starts Monday the 2nd of March, 2020. 4:00pm Children love to play with words, sounds and rhythm – that’s why poems and songs are particularly popular as soon as children start talking and listening to stories. And when they begin to write themselves, poetry is a wonderful, playful path into creative writing. Teacher Robin Sadlier is a lecturer at the English Department of Heidelberg University and has led writing workshops with children of various social backgrounds for many years. The program is designed for children ages 8 to 12 who are familiar with English or have a bilingual background. Please register your child ahead of time.
