A young man comes to the eternal city to shake off the present. In Rome, he remembers. In Rome, he falls in love. In Rome, he mourns. He meets extraordinary people and finds his task: perceive everything, leave nothing out. The murder of Caesar is as vivid to him as the scramble of sunglasses sellers on the Corso.<\/p>\n

Ancient and modern ideals, gleaming palaces, boisterous parties and fading art. Locals, migrants, believers, tourists, beggars. In between, rubbish, lots of rubbish. And always the twinge in the chest that doctors refuse to take seriously. Roman Days<\/em> takes us to the many beginnings and ends of our world and asks, in “unagitated transparency” (DLF), what we will make of it tomorrow.<\/p>\n

Simon Strau\u00df, born in 1988, studied, among other things, Classical Studies and is co-founder of the group “Arbeit an Europa”. In 2017, he completed his doctorate on conceptions of Roman society; he is an editor in the feuilleton of the FAZ. His debut Seven Nights<\/em> received wide acclaim.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Throughout his life, Friedrich Engels is a man full of contradictions. He is a scholar and a revolutionary, a womanizer and a factory owner. Successfully running his father’s factory in England, he is nevertheless one of the great masterminds of communism. For Karl Marx, he was not only a close friend and source of inspiration, but also an indispensable patron. Just in time for his 200th birthday, Tilman R\u00f6hrig dedicates an exciting and instructive novel biography to him.<\/p>\n

The actor and writer Tilman R\u00f6hrig has published a large number of books for young people, including many historical novels for young people such as Caravaggio’s Secret<\/em> (2011) and Mit Hannibal \u00fcber die <\/em> Alpen (2007).
\nHe was awarded the Great Rhenish Culture Prize for his work.<\/p>\n
