Employee (f/m/d) Media Technology

The German-American Institute (DAI) Heidelberg is a non-profit cultural institution dedicated to promoting democracy and providing information about social, political and cultural events on both sides of the Atlantic. In addition to a comprehensive program – consisting of lectures, event series, seminars, discussions in both German and English, concerts, films and exhibitions – the DAI offers a wide range of educational opportunities, including a language school, a public English-language library, a language support project for children and young people, several international kindergartens and an international school.

For our interdisciplinary programmes and projects we are looking for reinforcement in the area of media technology with immediate effect:

Your activities

  • Responsible for the planning and implementation of the technical realisation in the areas of lighting, sound and video technology .
  • Production as well as supervision of the regular dai HOME livestreams at the times of events incl. preparation and follow-up
  • Optimisation of the technical set-up and troubleshooting in consultation with external service providers
  • Advice and support of colleagues regarding technical feasibility of new projects
  • Support in the production and postproduction of video and audio assets and in the field of IT and network administration desirable

Your profile

  • Completed training in the technical field, e.g. event technician with focus on video, media technician, media designer image / sound, assistant for media technology, IT system administrator with further training as media technician or similar or equivalent professional experience as career changer
  • High technical understanding and sovereignty in dealing with modern video and media technology
  • Experience in live broadcasting (e.g. with Vimeo Premium as well as an open broadcasting software)
  • Ideally relevant experience in the (post-)production of videos and podcasts
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro as well as a basic understanding of CMS systems (e.g. WordPress, Elopage, etc.) or willingness to learn them
  • Independent, reliable and communicative way of working
  • Fluent German and English, both written and spoken
  • IT and network knowledge desirable
