Battle of the Books We are pleased to announce an exciting new reading competition program for students in grades 9, 10, 11, and 12. DAI Heidelberg Library will host the first ever Battle of the Books in Heidelberg on Thursday, March 18, 2021. We invite you to join us for this new program which offers students the opportunity to gain confidence in reading in English, develop friendships as they work as a team to prepare for battle, and have fun while learning! Registration is open now and closes November 6, 2020. The Battle of the Books will take place at the DAI Heidelberg on Thursday, March 18, 2021 (late morning until afternoon). For students in grades 9, 10, 11, and 12. Several teams can take part from one school. Students form teams of up to 10 students with a teacher advisor. The reading list consists of 10 books written in English and includes contemporary and classic literature. Students need to read at least one book to participate. A set of the 10 books is provided by the DAI Heidelberg to each team. During the Battle students will compete to answer questions using real game show buzzers. All questions and answers are in English! Prizes will be awarded to first, second, and third places teams. Each team will meet with a native English speaker from the DAI Heidelberg prior to the Battle to discuss the books. These meetings may be in person (if permitted) or via video chat.
