Library About the DAI Library The library is the historical core of the German-American Institute Heidelberg. Even at its opening in 1946 as the “America House”, it was seen as a place for the exchange of ideas, the imparting of knowledge and an enthusiasm for literature. To date, the DAI HD Library AmericaHouse is the only public English-language library in the entire Rhine-Neckar district. In addition to an extensive range of literature, consisting of classics, the latest bestsellers and up-to-date children’s, youth and non-fiction literature, national and international newspapers and magazines as well as DVDs and audio books of all genres, the DAI library is above all a meeting place. As a space of inspiration and spiritual development, it offers an attractive, wide-ranging programme of events for all ages and invites you to linger with its cosy Coffee Corner. As an official EducationUSA Advising Center, supported by the US State Department, the DAI Library also provides a wide range of information and advice on topics such as internships or studies in the USA, applications for colleges or visa applications. You will find the dates of all events offered by the DAI Library in our calendar of events.
