Library About the DAI library The library of the DAI Heidelberg is the only public English-language library in the entire region and the historical core of the German-American Institute Heidelberg. Even when it opened in 1946 as the “America House”, it was understood as a place for the exchange of ideas, the transfer of knowledge and enthusiasm for literature. In addition to an extensive range of literature, consisting of classics, the latest bestsellers and always up-to-date children’s, youth and non-fiction literature, national and international newspapers and magazines as well as DVDs and audio books of all genres, the library of the DAI is above all a place of encounter. As a space for inspiration and mental development, it offers an attractive, wide-ranging programme of events for children and adults and invites you to linger with the Coffee Corner. As an official EducationUSA Advising Center, supported by the US State Department, the DAI Library also provides a wide range of information and advice on topics such as internships or studying in the USA, college applications or visa applications. You can find the dates of all events offered by the DAI library in our Calendar of Events.
