Impending cuts endanger the work of the German-American Centers
The valuable work of the German-American Centers (VDAZ) is at risk due to impending funding cuts by the Federal Foreign Office. The draft budget provides for a drastic reduction in funding, which would reduce individual funding for the eleven centers from 90,000 euros to just 50,000 euros. This cut jeopardizes the centers’ commitment to transatlantic understanding and the strengthening of democratic values. In times of growing populist tendencies, disinformation and international tensions, their work is more important than ever.
